Forklift Attachments Gatineau - The city of Gatineau, Quebec is situated within the area of Hull, within the western portion of the province on the north coast of the Ottawa River. It is directly across from Ottawa, Ontario, the nation's capital and is part of the oldest European settlement within the National Capital Region. The population of Gatineau is 265,349, and the metropolitan population of the cities of Gatineau and Ottawa is roughly 1,236,324.

The township of Gatineau was established by Philemon Wright in the year 1800, when he led his family and numerous others, and a number of labourers to the area near the Chaudiere Falls. The group intended to create an agricultural community in the wilderness, but discovered a more lucrative trade in wood. Initially known as Wrightstown, it was renamed Hull. More recently, following amalgamation in 2002, it became the biggest township in the Outaouais region, Gatineau.

The city of Gatineau is so close to the country's capital that many provincial and federal offices are situated there. The federal government has a plan encouraging federal civil servant jobs on both sides of the Ottawa River. Several big towers house federal government offices within downtown Gatineau, such as Place du Portage and Terrasses de la Chaudière. The headquarters of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, Public Works and Government Services Canada and the Canadian International Development Agency are located within the city.

The city of Gatineau attracts thousands of visitors to the Canadian Museum of Civilization. The Casino du Lac-Leamy is one more well-known tourist attraction, that hosts an international fireworks competition every year. Gatineau hosts a colourful spectacle each Labour Day weekend when hundreds of hot air balloons take to the skies.
